POWER Author Program is the training division of Howson Publishing. As such, we offer courses and coaching primarily to guide coaches, speakers, influencers, and spiritual entrepreneurs towards publishing their cornerstone books and building the platforms to promote and sell them online and off.
If you are an existing or aspiring author, and you want to be present in the writing process while having an expert guide you through all the major decisions, we suggest you consider the POWER Author Diploma for your first publishing experience with us.
However, we appreciate not everyone wants or needs that level of hand-holding, and others want a more comprehensive package that includes ghostwriting.
While we focus on training and coaching, we do offer a range of Done for You author services, as outlined below:
Individual Services
For those times when you just need help with one aspect of your publishing journey.
Beta read
A beta read offers a read of your work in progress at any stage of development, for the purposes of constructive criticism and feedback for development. Readers will read your document, leaving inline comments as a reader, and provide an editorial report critiquing the piece with action points and suggestions for next steps, including which if any level of editing your manuscript would most benefit from.
You can request your chosen level of feedback:
- New writer – be kind
- Proficient writer – be thorough but diplomatic
- Old hand or thick skinned – don’t hold back
Most people opt for the ‘old hand’ level of feedback, and after using this service once, many say they will never publish without it again.
Your beta reader will read with track changes or editing suggestions turned on and may make minor edits or suggestions for improvement, but that is beyond the scope of the beta read.
- €5 per one thousand words or part thereof, €100 minimum
Developmental edit:
A developmental editor takes an early draft of a manuscript or a book outline and proposal and provides feedback on your positioning, outline, and basic structure to ensure that your book idea is sound and has a market.
You will receive feedback on your assumptions and suggestions on how to assess them, with a critique of your outline and structure and suggestions for improvement.
Your developmental editor will collaborate with you to polish your book proposal and outline. They may provide guidance on use of language and technical aspects of writing, but that is beyond the scope of the developmental edit.
- €25 per one thousand words or part thereof, €500 minimum
Line/Copy editing
Line editing comes after developmental editing, after the first draft is complete. Your line editor will read and make suggestions for improvement on your manuscript focusing on stylistic elements such as tone, use of language, logic and flow, and composition.
Copy editing is the next level of polish, which comes after you have implemented your copy editor’s suggestions. Your copy editor will read and correct your manuscript focusing on spelling, grammar, punctuation, and other technical aspects of writing. You copy editor will not make any substantive content suggestions, as they will assume these have already been dealt with in earlier rounds of editing.
- Line or copy editing separately: €25 per one thousand words or part thereof, €500 minimum
- Line & Copy editing combined: €40 per one thousand words or part thereof, €800 minimum
Cover Design
We collaborate with a stable of carefully chosen and trusted professional book cover designers who we respect and with whom we have excellent working relationships. We will collaborate with you to compile the design brief and function as intermediary with the designers, ensuring that you get prompt response and as many revisions as it takes to get the cover that is right for your book.
- E-book cover only: €250

Book Layout and formatting
Taking a polished manuscript and turning it into a beautifully professional book is an underrated art form. Your layout designer will import your manuscript into a carefully tailored version of one of our book layout templates. They will then painstakingly check every element on the page for formatting issues, applying classic design principles to ensure your book is perfectly at home alongside traditionally published books.
They will then export your book into the chosen formats for distribution and deliver files ready to be uploaded to platforms like Amazon or ingram Spark, or to be sent to your printer or publisher in their required formats.
- eBook Editions:
- EPub – €20 per one thousand words/10 images or part thereof
- EPub and Mobi – €30 per one thousand words/10 images or part thereof

- One size print edition – €25 per page
- Two sizes print edition – €45 per page
- Additional size print editions – €15 per edition per page
Proofreading
While not technically, editing, proof reading is your last line against errors in your manuscript, and tends to be what most people think of when they talk about editing. You proofreader will compare your finished manuscript after layout to your approved manuscript before layout to ensure no errors have been introduced in the formatting process.
As such, your proofreader will focus on ensuring there are no missing, repeated, or unintelligible parts of the manuscript, that your running headers and footers are correct and consistent, and that your page numbering is accurate and reflected in the table of contents, along with a host of other tedious but vital quality assurance checks.

Service Packages
Ghostwriting
If what you really want is someone to do the writing for you, we offer a ghostwriting service. You will meet with Your Fairy Book Mother or one of our carefully chosen professional ghostwriters, who will talk through your book concept and help you formulate your book outline and proposal.
Once your outline is in place, your ghostwriter will meet with you on Zoom or in person (see residential options below) and interview you to gather the raw material for your manuscript.
Your meetings will be transcribed, and your ghostwriter will use the transcripts as the starting point for your manuscript. If you have a traditional publishing deal, you will deliver your manuscript draft to your editor, who will likely request revisions and edits. You have the option then of collaborating with your ghostwriter to implement the requested changes or hiring an editor to do it for you.
- Interviews and transcript only – €100/hr of recorded interviews
- Interviews, transcripts, and ghostwritten draft manuscript – €300/hr of recorded interviews
Book-in-a-Box
Want a book project manager to deal with all the editing, cover, and interior design, so that all you have to do is turn up for the interviews, and then read and approve your manuscript at certain stages, or request revisions? Residential
Sometimes, you just need to get away from it all to focus on your writing. There’s nowhere better to do that than in an apartment one hundred yards from the sea, overlooking the peaceful Saronic Gulf in Korfos, Greece, where life is good! Especially when you consider that you will have unrestricted access not only to the beach and sports facilities, with a bar in the garden, but to Your Fairy Book Mother and editorial, design and publishing support while you are here.
Whether you want to come alone and seclude yourself away in our cosy writer’s apartment, bring the family and let them explore the surrounding areas while you work on your book, or pair up with a writing buddy for you own super-exclusive guided retreat experience, we have options for you.
Apartment Only
Our one-bedroom ‘spare’ apartment adjoins ours above Faros House, and can house one to four people, with one double bed in the bedroom and a double fold-down sofa-bed in the lounge. It has its own fully equipped kitchen and shower room–sorry, no bath!
There’s an office desk in the lounge perfect for getting some work done, and a generous balcony for eating al fresco, lounging, and reading.
